The nervous system is our central communication channel. It helps us navigate the physical and social world we live in.

It works to keep us safe by remembering what felt safe and what felt as a threat - that time my boundaries were not respected, I was praised or punished for being loud/quiet, dominant/submissive, openly sad/joyful/angry.

As such, it also shapes our bodily reactions and personality construct - when we tense, when we relax, how secure we feel in interpersonal relations, what role we take in a group dynamic. And most importantly when and where we allow ourselves to let go and express core emotions of anger, sadness, joy and fear.

And the things that really hurt - well, they stick.

A constant tension in the stomach or jaw, a constant worry about how others perceive me, or a constant background feeling of being trapped, unheard, and constrained.

The same is true about a traumatic event - suffering abuse, an accident, an operation, a divorce or a burn out.

So, by surfacing, acknowledging and letting go of these old experiences and blockages, the nervous system is freed, unblocking your body, your mind, and you!

What to expect

We start with a short conversation to explore what you want help with. We then move to the massage table to work with the body. We finish with a short conversation to integrate the experience.

During treatments I use massage techniques to surface your subconscious physical tensions. This surfaces their underlying psycho-emotional causes - whether unprocessed stress, anxiety, fear, anger, sadness, …

Once surfaced, you have the opportunity to work with your breathing, mind and nervous system to let go of these old protection mechanisms. With it, you also release the restrictive thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns associated with them.

Treatments will help you feel relaxed and present in your body, with a clearer mind, and more able to fully enjoy life and navigate change. Or feel a sudden desire to sign up to a pottery course and start wearing purple ¯\(ツ)

The body and mind are deeply interconnected. If there is pain in the body, it affects the psyche; and if you are under psychological pressure, it manifests in the body. Your body reflects your mental well-being – the physical and mental are not two separate elements, but one whole.

The body is always the first to signal that something is wrong. And the body also suffers the consequences of all our actions – or lack thereof. These consequences manifest as tension, blockages, and pain in the body.

What to Wear - Body therapy involves touch. Treatments are most effective with thin and minimal clothing. I recommend wearing non-revealing underwear and a sports bra. If you are not comfortable with this, it is also possible to receive a treatment with clothing.
